FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt)

Negative or alarming information spread about a coin or project, sometimes accurate, often deployed to shake out holders.

FUD covers any bearish narrative — a rumored hack, a regulatory threat, a founder's bad tweet. The term frames the information as manipulation meant to scare people into selling cheap.

The trouble is that real problems get dismissed as FUD too. A failing stablecoin or an insolvent exchange looks like baseless fear right up until it isn't. Calling something FUD is not the same as proving it false.
