We measure traffic with our own self-hosted analytics. When you view a page we record the page URL, the referring site, your country (derived on our server from your IP address using a local database), your browser and device class, and UTM campaign tags if present. We do not store your IP address, and we set no analytics cookies and no cross-site identifiers.

To count unique visitors within a day we compute a hash of your IP address and browser signature with a salt that rotates daily, so the identifier cannot be linked across days or to you personally. This data stays on our servers and is never shared with or sold to third parties. If you are signed in, page views may additionally be associated with your account so we can understand how the site is used.

Creating an account is optional — all news and market data is available without one. If you sign up we store your email address, username, display name, and any profile details you add (avatar, bio). Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes; we cannot read them. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google and store no Google password.

Content you post (comments and discussion posts) is public and associated with your username. Your email address is never shown publicly.

We use only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a security (CSRF) cookie. There are no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies. Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored locally in your browser and never sent to us.

We keep third parties to a minimum. Sign-up and sign-in forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes technical browser data to tell humans from bots. Transactional email (verification, password reset) is delivered via Resend; we send no marketing email. Market data shown on the site comes from OKX and CoinGecko, but it is fetched by our servers — your browser does not connect to them and they receive no data about you.

Account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account yourself in Settings; deletion takes effect immediately and the account is permanently purged after a 30-day grace period during which you can change your mind. You can also request access to or deletion of your data by email at any time, and we will act on it within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Most of this is self-serve in Settings; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Our legal bases: we process account data to provide the service you signed up for (contract), analytics and security data in our legitimate interest of running and protecting a news site, and transactional email because the service requires it. We do not profile you and make no automated decisions about you.

Our servers are hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States, and our transactional email provider (Resend) also processes data there. Where European data-protection law applies, these transfers are covered by the providers’ data-processing agreements incorporating the EU standard contractual clauses.

Crypto News covers financial markets and is not directed at children. Do not create an account if you are under 18.

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and its date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
