DYOR (Do Your Own Research)

A standard disclaimer urging you to investigate a project yourself before risking any money on it.

DYOR tells you to investigate a project yourself instead of trusting a stranger's tip — read past the marketing, check who is behind it, and form your own view.

In practice the acronym does double duty as a liability shield. A shiller posts a coin, adds "DYOR," and treats those four letters as a defense when it collapses. Real research is more than a hashtag, and the phrase is no substitute for actually doing the work.
