The urge to buy an asset because its price is climbing fast and you dread missing the gains.
FOMO is what makes people chase green candles. The price runs, social feeds fill with screenshots of profit, and the fear of being left behind overrides any plan.
It's a reliable way to buy the top. The 2021 meme-coin manias and the 2017 ICO frenzy both ran on it. Disciplined buyers treat a spike in FOMO as a warning sign, not a green light.
