Paper Hands
A dismissive term for selling too early, dumping a position at the first sign of trouble.
Paper hands is the opposite of diamond hands. The implication is weakness — that you folded and sold into a dip that later recovered, missing the gains a steadier holder kept.
The label is often unfair. Taking profit or cutting a loss is sound risk management, not cowardice. The insult mostly gets thrown around in communities that want everyone to keep holding, which conveniently props up the price.
