Luxembourg's regulator granted Ripple a full CASP licence, completing the two-part MiCA approval that spans all 30 EEA countries in one integration.

Ripple now holds a full Crypto Asset Service Provider licence from Luxembourg's financial regulator, the last piece of a two-part approval that puts it among the very few crypto firms operating fully inside the European Union's MiCA rulebook. The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier signed off on Monday. It follows the preliminary approval Ripple secured in June.

What the licence unlocks

A CASP authorisation lets a firm hold, move and exchange crypto on behalf of clients. Paired with the EU Electronic Money Institution licence Ripple obtained from the same Luxembourg regulator earlier this year, it means European banks and corporates across all 30 countries of the European Economic Area can reach the company's full payments stack through one integration. Collection, exchange, pay-out. Inside a single regulated framework, for the first time.

That end-to-end reach is the point. Instead of stitching together separate providers, a bank can run the whole payment flow through one regulated counterparty. Ripple frames the approval as readiness rather than a trophy. "This CASP authorisation means Ripple enters the post-transitional MiCA era fully compliant and ready to scale," said Cassie Craddock, the company's Managing Director for UK and Europe. The pitch is aimed at institutions that want a regulated partner before they commit to digital asset infrastructure at any real size.

Why the two licences matter

MiCA scrapped the old patchwork, where a crypto company needed separate approvals country by country, and replaced it with one licence good across the bloc. Clearing it is not routine. Ripple counts the CASP nod within a global portfolio of more than 75 regulatory licences, and it sits in a small group of digital asset firms to reach full MiCA authorisation since the regime took effect.

The company already serves some of Europe's largest financial institutions and has been widening its presence across the region's main payment corridors. The combined CASP and EMI permissions hand those clients the regulatory certainty they have been waiting for. Whether it converts into payment volume is the next thing to watch.
