Hot Wallet
A crypto wallet kept connected to the internet for fast access, trading the convenience against higher exposure to theft.
Browser extensions like MetaMask and exchange balances are both hot wallets. The private key sits on a device that talks to the network, so a transaction takes seconds.
That always-on link is also the weak point. Malware, a poisoned website, or a leaked seed phrase can drain a hot wallet in one signature. Most users keep spending money hot and savings cold — small amounts where they're easy to reach, the rest offline.
