World Series of Poker Will Take Solana Buy-Ins for the First Time

The World Series of Poker will let players pay their way into tournaments with crypto for the first time in the event's history. Buy-ins in USDC, USDT, or SOL go live at this summer's series at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas, processed through MoonPay Commerce on Solana with zero transaction fees. Solana Foundation is the anchor of the deal, signing on as presenting sponsor of both the 2026 World Series of Poker and December's WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.

The buy-in is the easy part. Settlement is where it gets interesting. At WSOP Paradise this December, winners can take their payouts in stablecoins on Solana instead of waiting on the usual cross-border banking lag. International cashes have always been slow and expensive to move. Near-instant settlement is the real pitch to players who fly in from abroad and want their money without a week of wire delays.

For Solana, this is a distribution play more than a payments experiment. Poker claims roughly 100 million monthly players, more than golf and tennis combined, and the WSOP Main Event returns to ESPN on July 2 in the United States, reaching more than 130 countries and 300 million homes worldwide. Solana branding rides along throughout the broadcast. The foundation will also stream the series on X.

Solana's product chief, Vibhu Norby, leaned on the obvious parallel: poker and trading both reward thinking in probabilities and moving fast, and Solana has cleared over $4 trillion in trading volume. The network's case here is mechanical rather than philosophical. Fees under a tenth of a cent and thousands of transactions per second are what make a zero-fee buy-in viable at all.

The crypto buy-in is available now at the summer series. Stablecoin payouts arrive at Paradise in December. Whether a poker crowd that already trades treats a Solana checkout as more than just another way to pay is the question those December settlements will start to answer.
